The Aston Martin marque has long established itself as a major player in the world of motorsport, competing in many of the largest events within both the sportscar and single-seater disciplines. Throughout the 2010s the popular Vantage platform underpinned a series of highly successful race cars that ultimately achieved a class victory in the 2014 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, continuing the illustrious heritage of the beloved British manufacturer.
The success of the Vantage on the racetrack necessitated a commemorative special edition in celebration of these results. At the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show, Aston Martin revealed the Vantage GT12. Heavily inspired by the GT3 iteration of the machine, this new model is stripped down and track focused with carbon fibre front wings, bonnet, front splitter, rear wing, and rear diffuser helping to reduce the weight over the standard model by 100 kilograms.
Under the bonnet, a mighty 5.9-litre V-12 screams through a fully titanium exhaust and delivers 591 horsepower to the rear wheels via Aston’s Sportshift III seven-speed gearbox. Inside, the passengers are nestled in race-inspired bucket seats and surrounded by the expected treatment of leather, carbon fibre, and Alcantara. Under the skin, a revised suspension setup for the wider footprint and tyres of the GT12 provides superb grip while carbon brakes deliver immense stopping force. A truly rare beast, just 100 units of the Vantage GT12 were slated for production, making every example highly sought after.
This example is finished with a Q by Aston Martin Graphics Pack, composed of an Ocellus Teal base with Gulf Orange accents. Further exterior specifications include 19-inch lightweight forged alloy wheels in satin black, GT12 special-edition badging on the bonnet and decklid, clear-finished tail lamps, and a carbon fibre front grille.
The theme continues into the interior space with Spectral Blue leather and orange contrast stitching wrapping the bulk of the surfaces while carbon fibre is used for the door cards and centre bridge. A Bang & Olufsen sound system was additionally selected as an option. A near-factory fresh example, just 373 kilometres show on the odometer at the time of cataloguing.
With true aerodynamic performance and a singing V-12 under the bonnet, the Vantage GT12 is a fitting celebration of the model’s competition success and its exclusivity ensures a lasting appeal among collectors of the marque.
