The Series 2 Aston Martin Lagonda saloon was launched at the 1976 London Motor Show, with deliveries beginning in 1979. Whereas the Series 1 was essential a four-door DBS V8, the Series 2 was a clean-sheet design by William Towns, who employed the “folded paper” design language that was popular in the 1970s and which had informed the shapes of such iconic cars as the DMC DeLorean, Lotus Espirit, and Lamborghini Countach. Only the dependable Tadek Marek 5.3-litre V-8 engine was carried over. The interior too was entirely new, featuring swathes of traditional soft leather and wood trim juxtaposed with avant garde, advanced instrumentation, providing a much more futuristic experience for both driver and passengers when compared to its competitors.

One of only 645 Series 2 Lagondas produced, this impressive left-hand-drive example was built to Swiss-market specifications and completed on 12 February 1982, later dispatched on 23 February 1982 to Hans Fischer and Co Notably. Finished in the attractive colour scheme of Rolls-Royce Ice Green over Magnolia Nuella leather piped with Green Nuella, it was exhibited at the 1982 Geneva Motor Show, where its futuristic, chiseled lines no doubt drew admiring stares.

A well-documented example of Lagonda’s visionary luxury saloon, this exemplary Lagonda has been on display at the Cité de l'Automobile museum in Mulhouse, France for the past 10 years. In 2013, the exterior was resprayed in its correct factory colour and the interior sympathetically restored. Accompanying the sale is a history file which includes a copy of its original build sheet, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, service invoices, and tool kit.
