In 2022, the year that the Q by Aston Martin bespoke division celebrated a decade of masterminding limited-edition halo cars such as the Vulcan and Vantage V600, the DBR22 was revealed to the world during Monterey Car Week in California. With its open-cockpit design, here was an homage to Aston Martin sportscar greats such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans-wining DBR1 and the DB3S. Built in incredibly limited numbers, each featured a 5.2-litre V-12 engine fed by a brace of turbochargers to send 715 horsepower to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Holding a 14 December 2023 date of production, the DBR22 offered here honours the cars that inspired the model’s creation courtesy of its special-order Aston Martin Racing Green 2022/23 paintwork. To further tie in with the marque’s motorsport exploits—including its more contemporary Formula 1, sportscar, and GT liveries—it was specified with AMR Lime accents. Most notably, this includes the bright finish for the brake callipers that slow the centre-locking 22-inch satin wheels. The custom configuration also added matte black exhaust pipe finishers, with the whole exterior treated to the application of paint protection film. As a perfect complement, the interior was specified in Forest Green with matching carpets and features contrast AMR Lime stitching. The bespoke configuration for this DBR22 added €110,000 to the original list price.

Delivered via Aston Martin Hilversum in the Netherlands, the car’s chassis designation ends in 14. This matches the race number of Fernando Alonso. Appropriately, the DBR22 has had its dashboard and booklets signed by the two-time Formula 1 World Champion and current Aston Martin driver following a visit to the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.

A virtually as-new example, with the odometer displaying a mere 177 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, this DBR22 would make for a remarkable addition to any collection. It also makes for one half of a perfect pair alongside the matching-specification Aston Martin Valour offered as part of the Shift Online: Europe and Middle East auction.
